Oleon is able to look back at another successful year of increasing the sustainability in our palm supply chain. In 2021, Oleon expanded our collaboration with NGO Earthworm Foundation, who started providing support for our grievance management system. We were also able to improve the traceability in our palm supply chain. Last year, Oleon could trace 99.7% of our palm volumes back to the mill and 95% back to refinery at origin. Our latest global mill list is available on the Oleon website.
As of 2019, Oleon covers all non-certified palm volumes by investing in local field projects. In 2021, we joined Earthworm Foundation’s new Landscape project in Riau (Indonesia) which focuses on forest protection, replanting programs, rural economic development and workers’ rights. 100% of the Landscape areas are covered by satellite monitoring to track forest cover change.
Looking ahead, Oleon is committed to have 100% of our palm volumes traced and covered by sustainable certifications by 2030. We are supported in our endeavors by Earthworm Foundations who offers crucial expertise.
More information about our sustainable palm action plan was shared during our annual palm webinar in December. Interested in receiving the webinar’s presentation and recording? Please contact csr@oleon.com.
